D-Grade Axis antlers are perfect for customers looking for Axis antlers at the cheapest price! These are sold in 5- and 10-pound groups. Axis antlers are one of the hardest and most dense antlers on the market (even the D Grade are very solid), which makes them great for use in various craft projects, and for long-lasting decor! Axis antlers have a solid inner core that resembles ivory or marble when sanded or carved. They are highly desirable to knife makers and carvers.
What to expect from these antlers: These antlers are D-Grade quality, which means they are heavily weathered. Color is fully sun-faded, and all antlers will have surface cracks, often on both sides. The exterior will have a noticeable chalky texture/feel. These antlers may have subtle broken, or missing points and some points may have light rodent chew marks. We hand pick only the best D-Grade antlers for this listing, so any broken tines and rodent chew marks will be minimal. All antlers are 100% natural and free of any added chemicals or stains, and all are naturally shed and found in Texas. If you have any questions or special requests, don’t hesitate to ask.
How many antlers are in 5 pounds? It depends on the size of antler. Generally, you will get 3 to 4 antlers in five pounds. We use a mix of Large and Extra-Large antlers and add in smaller antlers to fill out the poundage. Typical combinations are as follows: 4 Large Antlers, 3 Extra-Large Antlers, 2 Extra Large and 1-2 Smaller Antlers *** Unless otherwise requested, you will receive a mix of sizes.
Antler Sizing: Main beam length is measured along the curve of the antler from the burr to the tip.
Medium – Main Beam Length 18 to 22 inches
Large – Main Beam Length 22 to 26 inches
Extra Large – Main Beam Length 26 to 30 inches
**For beams 1" in diameter or thicker, we recommend large and XL sizes.
