Axis antlers are one of the best options for knife-handle material. Unlike Whitetail or Elk antlers, Axis antlers are solid to the core and do not have a spongy/pithy center, allowing them to firmly hold screws, pins, and blades. The inside of the Axis antler resembles ivory and is one of the strongest and most durable options for knife making!

Choose your desired size:

Small - These pieces are approximately 3/4" diameter and smaller than the diameter of a quarter.

Medium - These pieces are approximately 1" diameter and roughly the same diameter of a quarter.

Large - These pieces are approximately 1.125" diameter and larger than a quarter in diameter.

*All pieces are approximately 6 to 7" long. Antlers are not uniform in size or shape; the sizes listed above are approximate and will vary. The maximum diameter we encounter for Axis antlers is about 1.25", but that size is very rare. Most of the large-sized pieces will be about 1.125" diameter. You are very welcome to leave a note with your order requesting a specific diameter, but we cannot guarantee your request can be filled.

Choose your desired size:

A-Grade (Brown) - These pieces are cut from our freshest antlers. They range in color from dark brown to very light brown.

A/B-Hybrid Grade (White/Brown Mix) – These handles will have some light brown coloration, but will also have indications of sun fading too, usually darker on one side and light on the other. These are great for customers who like a mixture of colors in their handles.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Knife Handles:

1) Will my piece be straight? Antlers are not naturally straight. Although there are occasionally fully strait pieces available, those pieces are not common. All Axis antlers naturally curve; there is usually a significant curve near the burr, and a more subtle curve throughout the main beam. We strive to select pieces that are ergonomic to the hand and have at least 3" of straight section before curving. We've found that most customers enjoy having a slight curve so that the handle fits well in their hands. If you need a completely straight section, we recommend purchasing a whole antler so you can cut your desired piece. You can always leave us a note with your order to request the straightest piece possible.

2) Will my piece be completely round? Antlers are not uniform shape. While we do strive to select pieces that are round, sometimes pieces are slightly oval. Our goal is to select pieces that are ergonomic to the hand.

3) Do you have pieces bigger than 1.25" diameter? On rare occasions we do, but we do not advertise that size on our website because they are so rare.

4) Can I return my handle if it does not work? Yes, we accept returns. However, there will be a 15% restocking fee to cover the initial shipping charges. Customer is responsible for return shipping.

5) Will I receive the exact handles in the picture? No. Photos are stock images and are a representation of what you will receive. Although you will not receive the exact antlers pictured, you will receive antlers of similar shape, size, color, and condition.
